Many youths are creating personal homepages at sites like MySpace
and Facebook - its fun and its a great way to get some experience with
Web design. There are any number of programs and sites that
provide easy-to-use templates that allow people to quickly and easily
create professional looking Web pages.
Sites like myspace also support custom coding - you can modify
their designs and layouts by adding your own HTML. There are
some sites that provide additional templates, generating the necessary
code, so that users can easily modify personal Web page at the common
social networks.
This Web is an "online text," created for a class in Web
design. The purpose is to provide some "tips and tricks" to help
people get started making their own Web pages. We will review
basic principles of Web design using common software - MS Office.
We will use this software package and MS FrontPage to create
personal Web pages. In the process, we will look at how the
Internet and HTML works, search strategies, Web design, basics of
graphics and animations, and embedding other document formats and
multi-media.
We will also provide and maintain a comprehensive set of links to
other online resources so that students can continue to explore and
share Web design and emerging trends on the Internet. Do you
have any links or examples of great Websites or resources that you
would like to share? We'd love to hear from you at

Uploading Files via FTP (Note: Students will not actually upload
anything to the Web. We will look at how that process works and
some FPT tools to upload files to a server.)
